The money dance or the so-called “prosperity dance” of the bride and groom at their reception is believed to be a lucky charm to the flow of money in their married life.
A newlywed couple from Binmaley, Pangasinan felt like they won the lottery when the total obtained money from their money dance reached into 844,000 pesos.
Allan and Priscilla Flores were very pleased as they pose with a crown and cape overflowing with money. Allan, though purely Filipino, was born and raised in Canada.
Most principal sponsors of the wedding are from Canada, US and England, thus, the couple received a lot of foreign currencies.
To break down their total cash gift from the wedding, the pair got;
13,000 US dollars,
3, 250 Canadian dollars, and
62,000 Philippine peso
With a total of 844,000 peso in all but other reports say that they were able to get 1.3 million pesos.
Instead of spending it on a honeymoon vacation, the pair decided to invest the money for their future.
In an interview with Priscilla Flores, they were very surprised on the tremendous amount of money that they have received, she also admitted that they did not expect it to happen and was very thankful to all of their generous guests and requested the netizens to just spread love and not hate.
The photos circulating in the internet was not directly uploaded by the couple, as to not make a bragging impression to the online community, they were all tagged photos from family and friends who were present on the ceremony.
A lot of comments were thrown on the said photos, but most of them are admiration remarks like #SanaAll, #KayoNa, etc. Others jokingly annotated that they want to be married now just to get that amount of money and they will make sure that their ninongs and ninangs were rich.
