A 17 year old mom was hit by an 18-wheeler truck and was looking for her baby before dying in her husband’s arms as told by “24 oras reporter Saleema Refran. The 17 year old mom was in the name of Michelle Ramos and her 3 month old son was Matthew. Both were killed in the incident as the truck lost its brakes and plowed through several establishments. The said truck was carrying on its flatbed a backhoe.

Michelle’s husband, Rolly Bangit, tried to rescue his wife and son, who got stuck under the truck. He found his wife underneath the steel. Michelle asked where their baby was before she took her last breath.

“Hinawakan ko ‘yong kamay niya, tinanggal ko ‘yong mga nakadagan sa kaniya tapos hinahanap niya pa rin ‘yong anak namin,” Bangit said.

“Sabi niya, ”Yong anak natin?’ Unti-unti na po siyang binawian ng buhay sa kamay ko, wala po akong magawa,” he added.

Based on Bangit’s interview, his family was only visiting his parents’ store in Barangay Santo Cristo that day when the truck shattered several cars, traversing towards the other side of the road and colliding into some establishments which then leads to the death of his wife and son.

According to the result of the investigation, the driver, Eliazar Lumawag, already felt that there was something wrong with the vehicle while still in Tondo but still decided to drive it anyway. It was in Brgy. Santo Cristo that the truck lost its brake and plowed through the side of the road.

“Kahit anong pigil ko, ‘di ko na napigilan ‘yong truck kaya bumulusok,” Lumawag said. When the driver reached San Jose, Bulacan, his license was confiscated and was issued a penalty ticket for running over traffic cones and signage, He was tested positive for shabu when the incident happened. As of now, he is charged with reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide, multiple injury, damage to property and violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
