“WHO IS THIS KID!!!!!? YOU ARE OUT OF THIS UNIVERSE WHOEVER YOU ARE” as captioned by Sam Smith on his Twitter account as he re-posted the viral video of a student singing his hit song “Too Good at Goodbyes”. He also posted the same video on his Instagram account wherein a lot of celebrities were amazed of the students’ voice and threw in comments of astonishment.

According to a reliable source, the viral Filipino boy who wowed Sam Smith was Carl Malone Montecido. Carl, a boy from Bacolod City, was born blind and the doctors couldn’t give any assurance that he could see again even if he was given an operation as told by his mother in an interview.

He was referred to as the “Blind Balladeer” by the noontime show, “It’s Showtime” where he was a contestant of “Tawag ng Tanghalan”, way back 2016. Carl bagged fifth place on the finals on the respective TV show.

A year ago, the social media world was shocked when stage director Paul Ballano posted on his Facebook account that Carl has not yet received his prize from the said competition but was assured by Laurenti Dyogi that the matter will be settled. Paul also said in a statement that ABS-CBN said that while it did not take two years to pay Montecido’s prize, the network admitted that it still owes Carl some talent fees from his TV and mall shows.

In a recent post of Paul in Facebook, he said that he already received the checks of Carl and he thanked the network giant for its fast response.

Apparently “Tawag ng Tanghalan” was not the first TV show he had an appearance. On 2010 Carl appeared on “Pilipinas Got Talent”. He started at a young age joining competitions to help his family. Carl made it to the semi-finals of the show.

The viral video was posted by Trixie Madison on Facebook. Currently it has more than 7.7 million views.
